Curious? Here's what you need to know
We know leaving your jewellery with someone can feel like a big step. Here's what most people want to know first.
Do you size rings, and how much does it cost?
Yes, we size rings in our on-site workshop and our friendly staff can help you choose the right size for your finger and ring style.
The cost of ring sizing depends on the metal and whether the ring is going up or down in size. Please pop in to see us for a confirmed price.
How much does a custom piece cost?
Every custom piece is handcrafted in our on-site workshop to your design specifications, because of this, we will need to put together a detailed quote for you.
Please visit us in-store or book or email us to discuss your custom jewellery needs.
Do you do rhodium plating, what is it and how long does it last?
Yes, we do rhodium plating in our workshop every Wednesday.
Rhodium plating is an electroplating process that coats jewellery with a thin layer of rhodium to cover the yellowish finish of some white gold.
White gold provided by Cameron Jewellery does not need rhodium plating because we use a special white gold and platinum alloy that has a darker grey finish with no yellow tones.
Rhodium plating can last anywhere from 6 months to two years; it depends on the wearer. It will eventually wear off due to friction, sweat, body oils, and chemical exposure.

Do you offer jewellery valuations, and how much does it cost?
Yes, we offer jewellery valuations for insurance, and these are couriered to our independent jewellery valuer in Wellington using a signature-only courier with New Zealand Post.
The cost depends on the type and complexity of the piece and how quickly you need the valuation completed. Please give us a call or come and see us for a confirmed price.
How often should I have my rings cleaned and checked?
Ideally, you should have your rings cleaned and checked every six months, but once a year is fine.
It is very important to have your rings checked in order to maintain settings and claws and to foresee any other wear and tear that may need repairing.
Most insurance companies will also ask that you have your jewellery checked every year, and not doing so may cause problems if you ever need to make a claim.
